Normally I make one of these posts every month. Faithfully. Listing and promoting upcoming events, recent publications, sometimes recaps of past happenings.
“Normally.”
I’ve got a stack of things to post about taller than a freakishly tall leprechaun. I mean, Guinness Book of World Records tall. Will probably (possibly) get to them sometime soon. Would I bet money on it? No. No, I would not. (This is not investing advice, legal or illegal. Find a fortune cookie if you want reliable futures.)
But! Two things real quick! Thursday, May 29th, at 7pm, I’ll be the featured artist at the Arrow Broken Poetry Collective May Featured Artist + Open Mic (Theme: Wounded Soldiers in Love’s Service).
If you know my poetry at all, you know I have poems speaking to every word in that theme 😁. So…what will I have to share? Show up and find out!
Oh, and it’s in Marine on St. Croix, which I had to look up. It’s a bit of a drive from Minneapolis, but I hear it’s lovely. I’m about to find out 😉.
The other imminent event is Celebrate Indigenous Place — A Poetry Service Announcement. This event is the culminating reading for Heid Erdrich’s project (from the Loft posting):
Join Heid E. Erdrich and Minneapolis poets she commissioned as part of her 2024 poet laureate fellowship from the Academy of American Poets. Poetry by: Louise Waakaa’igan, Sana Wazwaz, Chaun Webster, Chavonn Wiliams-Shen, Sun Yung Shin, Deanna Standing Cloud, Lamar Renville, Oogie Push, Tyra Payer, Bao Phi, Melissa Olson, José Felipe Ozuna, Nick Metcalf, Ifrah Mansour, Halee Kirkwood, Su Hwang, Davi Gray, Anthony Ceballos, and Zeke Caligiuri.
Special Guest: Minneapolis Poet Laureate Junauda Petrus
Doors open at 6:30pm, and the reading will begin at 7:00pm
This is a spectacular collection of poets — you should try so hard to get there!
I also had not one but three poems published recently in a very limited edition art thing, which I plan to actually dedicate a whole post to. Once I find my copy. Because it’s somewhere in this place, and I Will Find It 😅.
Also coming up: a June posting sometime before the very end of the month!
