New Year, New Things, New...o damn, no, not that again... OPEN MICS EVERYWHERE
Please feel free to catch me at a poetry reading any time you like. They are tasty and smooth, like a banana maquiri. (That is totally a thing I did not just make up, do not google it).
Okay, I should have written this a long time ago. Days. Days and days. Also should have gone to sleep at some point? Not perfect yet.
However, that is all water over the bridge at this point. Drowning a bit? Believe it or not, I have a poem for that.
Re-Verb this month, of course: but not every week. Maybe only half of them (!). I was there on January 4th — DJ JustNine in the house — and met the new(ish) rapper Crowfather, of whom I’d never heard before but who kinda blew my mind. Might write some more on that at a later date. If I remember. In the meantime, check out his music, it is 🔥❤️🔥🔥.
Got the Radical Joy open mic, tomorrow — I mean, tonight — at Lutunji’s Palate. Be there or don’t be there, I don’t care. (I do care.) You’re only hurting yourself, people.
And Wednesday (Jan 10th), Buckslam at Boneshaker Books. And on Thursday the 11th, no Re-Verb, because I’ll be at the Walker for Ligia Lewis, A Plot / A Scandal. (Just audiencing, not performing.)
So then what? Well, next Wednesday, the 17th, is the Heartbroken Open Mic, at Open Book, 7 - 9 pm. Thursday the 18th, a dilemma: Re-Verb, or the Inauguration of Heid E. Erdrich as Minneapolis Poet Laureate, at the very same time but a very different place? Decisions, decisions.
However, the 25th, I should definitely be back at Flava Cafe for Re-Verb (whew!), and the next night I’m going to slide into the White Squirrel Bar to catch the Collaboratory with Carnage the Executioner among other fine artists.
Having a hard time keeping up with all that? Tell me about it! More big things coming on the horizon in February, too.
It might be easier to watch my Events Calendar — new & improved, as part of my personal website redesign, which I did sometime around the turn of the year. You know, new year, new website!
Well, I have been too long in this world. Time for another, for one brief unshining moment. Do be good to yourself, dear reader, and I will strive to do the same.
