Created with @kevmillvpp, who did a spectacular job joining visuals and soundscape to my own poetry. I’m thrilled with how this turned out.
The poem itself was an ekphrastic piece, written in response to Mark Rothko’s painting Black in Deep Red, 1957. I suggest watching the video first, examining the painting, then watching the video again. The photograph no doubt pales in comparison to the real thing—Rothko typically painted large (and have I mentioned how jealous I am of those large canvases artists be using??)—but I’ve never seen it in person myself.
