First, apologies if I’m confusing you with my fickle nature. I’ve updated my “terms of service,” so to speak, in that I’m going to send these occasional updates through email, as opposed to secretly posting them here without sending them out, then making sure to say something in Notes about it, etc. etc. Check out my About page if you need more detail. Though that about covers it.

Second, I went to see Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah at Moon Palace Books, talking about his new novel, Chain Gang All-Stars. His interlocutor was the inimitable Zeke Caligiuri, local activist, advocate, and writer (This Is Where I Am). It was a fascinating conversation, touching on issues of the carceral state, writing fiction, race, class, cultural appropriation, and the Fonz. (You had to be there….) It was time well-spent.
